His thoughts are not our thoughts

Then I said, “Oh, Lord God , they are saying of me, ‘Isn’t he just posing riddles? ’ ”
Ezekiel 20:49 HCSB

The days of punishment have come; the days of retribution have come. Let Israel recognize it! The prophet is a fool, and the inspired man is insane, because of the magnitude of your guilt and hostility.
Hosea 9:7 HCSB

Whenever I am reading the bible it is easy to want to try to make sense of things that do not initially make sense to me.  I have to constantly remember that God's thoughts are not my thoughts, so it can be folly trying to use my own human logic to make sense of these things.  The only reliable thing we have is other Scripture to interpret Scripture.

I also find that when a person decides to really dive into Scripture and it begins to take hold of his or her life, when they speak about the deep things of Scripture by merely quoting or paraphrasing it in conversation, they sound crazy.  Now I'm not talking about the people who take liberty with interpretations of the scripture and therefore come up with new doctrines.  I'm talking about those who are consumed with the scripture and try their best to live it.

Here is an example.  My wife will wear a covering whenever we or just she prays (1 Corinthians 11:2-16).  She does this because the scripture says she should.  To many people, that seems like an extreme.  We decided to do this just so that we would not be rebellious against what the word says.  I have my thoughts about why this is commanded in scripture..but the truth is I can't say for 100% certain why it was commanded.  We had to come to the conclusion that it is ok to not know why and that it is better to just be obedient.
